Cori-Ann's Story
Life
When I graduated from High School, I told myself I wanted an interesting life. So here is the story so far: I have traveled miles across America and Europe in many different jobs and vacations.
I have sold cheese, cars, china and crystal in Portland OR. To find
more about myself and my biological family, I moved to the American
Southwest, lived at the Grand Canyon, and found love and and lost it many times. Finally, I found the courage to contact my father and family, and was overjoyed to find they LOVED me emmesely and wanted me back, though time and general family conflicts sometimes
do cause troubles. On the urge from an older sister, I became a nanny and have traveled the country in this profession, including working in Bend, OR, Nashville Tenn and Camas WA. Using this profession, I graduated from college at 31 with a BA in Humanities.
At this time, I was a pre-law major with a flunking LSAT score. My responses from the admissions boards of Law Schools went something like this, "Although you seem qualified to attend Law School, we don't currently have room for you." I took this to be a sign that I was not going to Law School. I changed my plan to business. I was admitted conditionally to an MBA program, until a statistics class was on the horizon. I can't do math. I took this to mean, I was not to be an MBA, so I became a writer and worked in a law office. ve. During the 1990's I apprenticed myself to a professional fiction writer, Tom Spanbauer became a Dangerous Writer and artist and used my life in my writing and have given many readings in Oregon at writer's workshops, bookstores and events including Portland's Literuption, Haystack at Cannon Beach, Fishtrap, many bars and coffee shops in Portland with the group The Fiction Asylum. I have read at Powell's Bookstore from works in progress from short stories I have amassed, and a book I wrote called Hard Money Homestead. I have published a short story in StoryQuarterly Magazine called Rocks. I currently support my writing habit and other creative endevors by working the same law office as when I found out I was never to be a Lawyer (thank heavens) or an MBA (thank goodness) as an administrative professional. In 2005, I started a handmade greeting card business called Cake Walk Cards. I love selling my cards to friends, who usually laugh at them, which gives me the greatest kick. My favorite card to make is one that is custom designed for the indivual who hires me. In my dreams at night, I work full time for myself making cards and sell them successfully to everyone I meet who laugh and find pleasure in them. I volunteer for underinriched community projects, good causes with little hope and lost causes with no hope. Sometimes, I just kick back and watch some useless mind sucking TV and eat chips at home. If you want to know more about me, don't goggle me, I won't be there, Amazon me, I'll be there for sure.
