Susan's Story

Life July 2005--My life bio? Hmmmmmm, I graduated high school in 1985 from B. C. Rain High School, but that wasn't the only one I attended. I also attended Largo High School in Largo, FL, (ninth grade year), then Theodore High School, (tenth grade year), before going to B. C. Rain High. After school, I got married, had three boys, went back to college when my youngest started school, and am now a teacher. I lived in Spanish Fort, Alabama for about 11 years and am now living in Milton, FL after moving from Jacksonville, FL in June. I divorced my first husband and married a career Navy man, hence the moving around after living in Alabama for a long time. My three boys are now teenagers, and their ages are 18, 17, and 15. I just bought my oldest his first car. Now, if only I could choose who they will end up marrying! But, then again, they might do better themselves. As long as they grow up to be strong, kind, healthy, happy, and spiritual human beings, then I will be happy. And for those of you who don't have kids, being a mom is an adventure in itself. I only went to one high school reunion, which I attended with my first husband. I still look about the same, just a few more wrinkles around the edges. 12/3/05--I have been adding more pictures to my profile. I am really glad they finally let us put more than two on here. Now I can show off my boys. =) 11/3/06--I just replaced the "now" picture with a newer one of me. I've heard that your eyes stay the same size from birth and your ears and nose keep growing. It must be true, because my nose is looking pretty big these days. Sigh. The joys of old age. 8/27/07--My oldest son turned 20 on the 14th of this month, my middle son will be 19 in October, and my baby is now 17. The years are flying by! I kind of wish they would slow down some. I turned 40 this year, (back in March), and that's a major reason time needs to slow down. =) I mean, I'm going to be looking at having an "empty nest" here soon. My career Navy man is in Japan for two years on the USS Essex based out of Sasebo. I will probably fly over next summer for a visit. I sure do miss him sometimes, but other times, I kind of like it by myself. I'm sure all of you out there can understand that. Take care!! 4/19/08--I went to a concert back in December with my three boys and one of their friends. OMG!! I never knew what I mosh pit was, but I sure found out the hard way! We saw Three Days Grace, Alter Bridge, Papa Roach, and Another Animal. I got floor tickets, and the night was going great, until the moment when my boys and I were almost knocked over. I elbowed some guy who was still near me trying to knock us over, and hit a few other ones who tried to push my kids down. My oldest son had just gotten over pneumonia and was still weak, so when he got pushed down, I was really angry. He saw me almost get pushed down, too, so he went after a guy, and out of nowhere, some huge guy comes out of the crowd, and put my son in a choke hold. I hit him twice, and he let go of him, and I told the other guy who started it all that he better not touch my son again. It was a riot! I was trying to protect my boys, and they were trying to protect me. I told my students the story. They got a kick out of hearing about their five-foot tall teacher hitting a bunch of big guys at a wild concert. Some of my students were at the same concert, and I'm very thankful none of them were near me with a video camera. My boys are now 20, 19, and almost 18. My oldest lives in Pace, FL, and the other two still live with me. Jacob, my middle son, was in a terrible car accident in December. He was driving his brother's Mustang on the way home from Orange Park, when he hydroplaned off of I-10. He wrapped the car around a tree. It's a miracle he's still alive. Unlike most people, who'd stay in the seat and pray to live, he saw he was about to hit a tree, ripped his seat belt off, and dove into the back seat. He couldn't get his left leg out of the front in time, so both bones in his leg were broken in about the same place. He has a metal rod in his leg for life. We went to the towing company and saw the car. There really wasn't a driver's side front...Expand for more
seat anymore, and what was left of it was mostly in the back seat. Everybody said if he hadn't jumped into the back seat, he would be dead. The thing about that is....there wasn't much of a back seat to jump into. A lot of the stuff in the front was shoved into the back, including parts of both front seats. The top of the car had to be cut off to get him out. Jacob kept his sense of humor, though. When he first talked to his brother, he told him he now had a convertible. Ryan handled the whole losing-the-car thing quite well. He said he could always replace a car, but could never replace a brother. August 2008--I went to Japan in June to visit my husband, who is stationed over there on the Essex. That was my first time out of the country. What an experience! I wouldn't trade it for anything. I hadn't seen my husband in over a year, so it was great to see him again. I sure do miss him! Another year to go before his next tour. The next place on my list of places to see before I go is Australia. While I'm there, I also want to swim with a Great White Shark. Call me crazy if you want, but I think sharks are cool. I would love to see one in the wild. They have tours over there, so that's next on my agenda....although still a couple of years away. The shark tour itself is about $4000 per person. 1/14/2010: I never thought I'd call Georgia my home, but my husband and I moved here back in October. He was transferred here, and this tour will be for three years. I sure miss the beaches of Florida. I miss the ocean! I've lived near the ocean for my entire life, and now it's about a three hour drive to get to one. That sucks! 5/27/2012: So much has happened in my life since the last time I posted something. My second husband and I are separated. Last year in July, he went a bit psycho and threw my youngest son down the stairs and shattered his wrist. My son now has metal hardware in his wrist for life, along with a four inch scar from the surgery to repair the damage. The Navy gave my husband a slap on the wrist and told him not to do it again. He will be transferring sometime in late summer, and I will be staying here in Georgia for the time being. I need to get some debts paid off, and in a few years, I'd like to move back home, or closer to home.....which basically means closer to the ocean and beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. I don't want to date or get married again. Twice was enough. Both husbands were abusive in their own ways, and I don't want to take the chance of that again. It's just not worth it. NO, I have not gone the lesbian way, and never will, but I have learned that being by myself isn't a bad thing. Of course, one never knows what life will bring or what God has in store, so my "never" may turn into a "maybe" in the future. My boys are doing okay, but the oldest has me very concerned. He just got out of rehab and I'm afraid he's going right back into doing what he was doing before. I will keep praying. He's in Florida and working for a heating/air conditioning technology company. That's what he took in college and is certified in it. The middle son had an accident with a skateboard and is now recovering from surgery on his shoulder. The youngest is taking the summer off from college, and will be starting back in the fall. He's also seeing a psychiatrist due to the incident with my soon-to-be ex. Some may say this post is very personal, but it's supposed to be a life bio, right? Well, this is my life right now. I'm doing okay, and I plan on keeping it that way. I've written two books and am working on a third, and I'm trying to get those published. I'm also an artist and paint jackets, bookmarks, furniture, etc.. I've been told I should start selling my artwork, and maybe one day I will. So, along with being the Education Coordinator at a maximum security prison,(I started working there in February 2010), I also stay busy with my hobbies of writing and painting. My cholesterol was high for a couple of years, and I was put on medication, but I quit taking it after two days and put myself on a "cholesterol" diet. It worked! If any are interested to know the diet, just send a message. That's it for now. Take care!
