Craig's Story

Life Hmmm, where to start. Been married since 1974---you do the math. Two daughters that are 22 (Hannah) and 27 (Heidi). Older one is a pilot, younger one is still figuring out what to do. Wife, LaVonne, is a nurse, works for pediatric cardiology group. I work for adult cardiology group doing cardiac ultrasound and biomedical electronics repair. Used to run marathons, injury and old age cut that activity years ago---now I have to substitute adrenaline rush for endorphin rush. Re-living my earlier years in that I am back into motorcycling in a big way. Latest motorcycle is a Yamaha FZ1, 145hp rocket that goes 0-100mph in 6 seconds, top speed ~155-160mph. Ride it a little on the racetrack--just for fun--not real competition, had it up to 170mph+ drafting some faster race bikes. Usually take one or two long trips a year---Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey, CA each year to watch superbike racing---strafe the curvy California roads there and back, usually with some Seattle friends. Investing is another activity, spend serious amounts of time doing that. Early retirement has been a passing thought, but too chicken to trust my investing performance as my only source of income, although in recent years I usually make more doing that than my job. Would like to do some world travel before I get too gimpy to do it---recently went to Belize to some cardiac clinic work for one of my doctor employers, that was pretty fun. Otherwise, I lead a pretty boring and non-...Expand for more
descript life. ;-) Update; 5-14-2015, after learning there were limits to my Yamaha fZ1 sportbike and my skill and crashing at a western WA track and getting busted up abit- in 2012, -not good to crash at age 59. Displaced fracture of my left thumb (now titanium rebuild), displaced rib fracture. I upgraded to a faster better handing black and gold GSXR 1000 that is in my picture on this site.at the track, blazing fast, guess I will never grow up--will hit 180mph+ on a long straight stretch track, crazy but exciting. . Both daughters now married for awhile to good husbands, lucky us. Wife, LaVonne, had a medical event last year, brain tumor, was non-malignant but large and was taken out surgically, that kinda torched my hobby of the motorcycle track till this year, and I am not sure where I am heading with that, starting to feel a bit more mortal. Still working, hoping to make it a little longer, as I don't really want to pay big bucks for health insurance till I get to Medicare age, but probably could bail if I wanted to, fairly successful in my investing, so probably could call it quits if I really wanted to. Update: 10-9-2016, some new pics uploaded, daughter Heidi is now flying for SkyWest, daughter Hannah is in New York baking artesian bread while supporting her husband taking some specialized training there. don't ask. I included a very recent stationary pic of me and my friend Dave, my bike is the black one. Sigh, life goes on. Craig
