Craig's Story
I joined the Marines to work on airplanes in February of 1972, and never graduated from High school. I did however,.get my GED while in the Corps and then go on to get a degree in Aeronautics, while working my way through school at Kirk Jewelers in the Tyler Mall. After finishing College, I went to work for General Electric at their jet engine overhaul facility in Ontario, California. I then went to work for Saudi Arabian Airlines in Jeddah, S.A. for a number of years and enjoyed it greatly. It allowed me to become a certified diver and spend endless hours diving the gorgeous coral reefs of the Red Sea.
After that, I went to work for Northwest airlines, where I stayed until 2000, when I went out on my own as an aviation Jet engine consultant. That was pretty cool. It took...Expand for more
me to so many countries, that I lost count.
Through all of this, I always maintained a little jewelers bench at home and have continued cutting stones and creating jewelry with anything from agate to diamonds and silver to platinum. I now have a store on Etsy,(Craigs Cornucopia) where I sell jewelry that is in the form of airplanes. It's a nice little enterprise that keeps me busy in my semi-retirement.
Currently, I live in Tucson, Arizona, but I spend a lot of time digging jasper' and agates in California It's not been something that my wife is into, but my two grand children love it, and we have lots of fun running around in the mountains and deserts looking for outcrops of interesting minerals.. It's been a good life so far, and I expect more of the same for the future.
