Craig's Story
Life
I went to Montgomery County, Maryland Schools from kindergarten through the middle of 9th grade (Wyngate ES, North Bethesda JH, Walter Johnson HS).
I moved to Midlothian, VA and graduated from Midlothian HS in 1985.
I went to the University of Virginia where I majored in English, graduating in 1989.
Then I moved to Berkeley, CA, where I enrolled at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. I received my MJ in 1991. I studied TV journalism, produced a documentary film and worked at the local NBC affiliate station part time. While in CA, I met my then fiance Terry Mock.
My first real job was at CNN in Atlanta. Terry and I got married in Northern Virginia in 1994 while we lived in GA. We honeymooned in Mendocino, CA.
I made a career change into environmental advocacy in media relations when I moved to Washington, DC. (after a brief stint working as press secretary for Rep. Nancy Pelosi of SF). I worked for three years for a nonprofit enviro group called American Forests. During this time, my first child, Megan, was born in 1997.

ce of NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), a major national environmental group. We were thrilled by the opportunity to move back to the Bay Area.
I started at NRDC in January 2000, and in June my son Liam was born. I've been at NRDC for 5+ years now. I love working as an advocate and with journalists on a daily basis. We own our home in El Cerrito, CA next to a huge regional park with coyotes howling, owls hooting and other local wildlife. Megan is excelling in 2nd grade (age 7). Liam is now in preschool (nearly 5). Terry works for Kaiser Permanente. We have a 7-year-old cat named Jade, a Siberian husky named Maddy and a ball python snake named Parsal and a uromastyx lizard named Izzie. We also have an aquarium with tropical fish and dwarf African frogs. Call me Noah.
That's the brief bio hitting all the highlights. I'm still close with Frank White, who graduated from Midlothian in 1984 and who was my roommate for two years at UVA. I have other close friends from college and grad school who I communicate with fairly regularly.
I'm curious about what other former schoolmates are doing, but as a transplant to the West Coast, I don't expect to attend any reunions.
