Craig's Story

Life I now live in Reddick, FL. I am retired from the fire department after a 30+ year career rising from a Basic EMT in NY to a District Captain in charge of EMS Quality Management. I now work as a Site Operations Engineer (SRE) for a large health care data company. My other bios tell what I have been doing since high school. Even if I didn't know you or hang out with you in High School, write anyway. Hope to hear from you!!! School After high school, I attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA to persue a career as a biomedical engineer. I had no idea what I was thinking. After realizing that I did not want to be an engineer, I decided to persue my childhood dream of being a firefighter-paramedic. I then attended DCC's EMT program, then Westchester CC's Paramedic program, then after becoming a Florida certified paramedic, I went through South Technical Institute's Firefighter Minimum Standards program (Fire Academy). See my school profile for more. Basically, all I did in College was get drunk, high, and realize that I did NOT want to do what I had gone to college for (and yes, I know you shouldn't end your sentences in "for"). Workplace Here is a brief rundown of my career: 1984-While in high school, I volunteered for Sloper-Willen Ambulance Service. I remained a volunteer with them until hired in 1988. 1986-Graduated high school, worked as camp counselor during summer. Went to college. 1987-Came back from college, worked for auto auction and ambulet...Expand for more
te company while in EMT school. At that time I joined the New Hamburg Fire District as a volunteer firefighter. After EMT school, worked for Empress Amb. in Yonkers and Abbey Richmond Amb. in White Plains/Port Chester. 1988-Was hired by Sloper-Willen Amb. in Wappingers 1989-Became a paramedic, worked part time as a police dispatcher for Wappingers Falls PD. 1990-Was hired by Village of Palm Springs Public Safety as firefighter/paramedic and moved to Florida. 1991-Was hired by Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue as firefighter/paramedic. In between 1990 and 1994 I worked for a few ambulance services part-time (Atlantic, SAVES, Bethesda), as well as a brief stint for CompUSA. 1998-Was promoted to Lieutenant. 2007-Was promoted to Captain. 2010-Was promoted to District Captain. 2014 promoted to EMS CQI Coordinator/Quality Manager at HQ. I retired in 2016 and started working for an ePCR company as their Special Projects coordinator. We were acquired by a much larger company, and in 2020 I was promoted to Site Operations Engineer, which is where I am now. If tech support can't fix the problem, it comes to my section. 2008-I took on a part-time job as a Paramedic with Universal Resort Orlando. It is a fun way to make a little extra money on my days off. In 2011 I was promoted to Trainer/Relief Team Leader and enjoy the challenges that brings. I retired from there in 2014, but went back in the fall of 2022 for a season. The commute got to be too much so I finished out the season.
