Craig's Story
After Grant High School graduation in June 1964, went to Stanford University on a Navy ROTC scholarship to become a mechanical engineer. However, that didn't work out and I eventually graduated in June 1968 with a BA in Economics. Received my Ensign commission and went to Florida to begin Navy flight training. Got married in June 1969 in Texas and my daughter was born in June 1970 in California. I flew P3 Orion anti-submarine aircraft from Sunnyvale CA as a Navy officer during the Vietnam era. In September 1973, I had left the Navy and joined EDS and was transformed into a computer systems guy. But I was always interested in the "people" side of the IT business and was implementing big systems and processes for many state clients. But moving 12 times from 1968 to 1978 was too much for me and my family. I began business and government consulting, marketing and sales with Consultec in Atlanta in 1978, where we lived until 1996. Learning from many smart people along the way, I climbed up through progressive senior roles at Coopers & Lybrand, Ernst and Young, ICF International, and back again to EDS. greatest family adventure from Feb 1996 to Feb 1999. The friends we made and the exciting experiences we had - Kruger Park, Victoria Falls, Cape Town and our home in Johannesburg - are fondly remembered. I came back with EDS to central New Jersey in Feb 1999 until its massive downsizing in 2003. After a year with Lucent that also downsized, we moved to Myerstown PA in Sep 2004. As a virtual employee from home, I worked in marketing for Patni Computer Systems and later in training for Unisys University, but again suffered repeated downsizing. So I became an independent business consultant to PA state government from 2009-2012 until declaring myself "semi-retired". Now my focus is on living a long and relaxed life with Rolayne (my wife for all these years) and Dana (my daughter living with us). I enjoy personal computing, cooking, target shooting, and short trips for shopping and local events. We moved to a home in a hilly and tree filled area near Reading PA in 2020. Like all "seniors", we have our health issues that we are managing. More travel to see distant friends and new places is also in our plans. Best wishes for health and happiness to all - Craig
