Craig's Story

Life I was always interested in music, and played in a band during high school(the Axons, with Jeff Heinz, Glen Kabanuck, Ken Dukes, and Dan and Dianne Herrera). While trying to buy an organ at Sherman/Clay, I got a job with Glen Kabanuck delivering pianos. After the band broke up, I worked my way through college moving pianos, and then furniture in general with the major moving companies. After graduation I decided to go into real estate, and although I liked it and did well, my heart was always in the moving business, so I started Belfor Moving. It's been fun. I'm married since 1974, and have Alex, who is 29, lives in L.A. and works in movies, and Natalie, who is 31, lives in TL and works at University of California at Berkeley.. My wife, Maria and I live in Novato and I'm looking forward to hearing from old friends and classmates. Workplace In 1...Expand for more
981 I quit Real Estate and started Belfor Moving. I love my work. I'm the National Van Lines agent for Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties, with an office in Novato, and a warehouse-office in Rohnert Park. Basically, I'm just a furniture mover and I love it. I get to move people all over the world, and have engineered some pretty amazing moves. I get both the physical and the emotional high from my work, and since I own and run the company myself, I get the personal satisfaction. Frankly, the art of moving thrills me, but the office work will excite me when I'm too old to move furniture personally. I can't even think of retirement. That's for people who hate their jobs, and must save up enough to quit. Ghengis Kahn didn't conquer China for the egg rolls. He did it because they built that wall and dared him to try. I say "if you hate it, quit now"
