Craig's Story
After graduation from CD, I went to Shippensburg University. Though I majored in Public Administration, I was in Army ROTC and was commissioned as an Infantry 2nd Lt. After 3 years in the Infantry, I went to the Special Forces Qualification Course and graduated in January 1986...I spent the next 22 years in Special Forces, mainly in 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), as well as various Command and staff positions within the Special Operations community. I was oriented, lived and worked in the Middle East, which was 5th SFGA's focus and retired as a Colonel (O-6) in 2006. I was stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida when I retired and I lived in Valrico, which is about 20 miles east of downtown Tampa. I remained there until the fall of 2012 working as a defense contractor for Northrup Grumman and Celestar Corporation at United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) and United States Special Operations Command (U...Expand for more
SSOCOM). In October 2012, I moved to Prince Frederick, MD where I worked as a Senior Army and SOF Analyst for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. I am now fully retired and legally separated. I have three children, Nick (36), Amanda (31) and Samantha (28). I am now back living in South Central PA after a 42-year adventure. I am still best friends with two of our other Class of 77 amigos, Shawn Bozarth and John Carretti, whom I have known ever since 3rd Grade at Northside Elementary in Colonial Park. I enjoy reading about other 77' classmates and have reconnected with some through Facebook, like Scott Archibald, whose son enlisted and made it through a very grueling and demanding selection/training process and became a Special Reconnaissance Officer within the US Air Force Special Tactics community. I STILL cringe when I look at my yearbook photos, however, I am looking forward to the 50th year reunion in 2027.
