Craig's Story
Life
After graduating from high school, I went into the Navy and my first assignment was in Naples, Italy where I met the greatest bunch of people I've ever known. In fact, I ended up marrying one of them in 1987 and we're still married with 2 kids. I remained in the military until 1992 and then we moved on to Utah, where we still reside. The years I spent in the military and most of all, Naples, Italy, were the most special in my life and the friendships were unforgettable.
School
I went to Union High School and for the most part, had a really good time there. The athletics I felt were the best in the state, we had a lot of pride in our sports teams. I was kind of a clown and used to hang around with Arthur Reed (who most people thought we were twins!) I made a lot of good friendships as well, one of which didn't come til later in life. I enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Naples, Italy in '82. In '84 about 3 weeks before I left, Diane DeBroeck was stationed there. ite shocked when I saw her. But we became really good friends since that encounter, but lost touch in '88 or so. Last I seen, she resides in Beaufort, Missouri. Even though I now live in Utah, I will always have a deep pride in Union, the '81 class and especially, the friends I had.
Military
I went into the DEP program in March of '81 and graduated in May. In August of '81, I went to basic at Great Lakes and from there had my "A" school in San Diego. My first duty station was in Naples, Italy which I thought would be the thrill of a lifetime and as it turned out, it was. The people I met, friends I made and places I've seen were just unforgettable. I was there from '82 to '84. I was then transferred to Diego Garcia where I spent the next 13 months. From there I had duty preference so I chose the USNS Neosho, where I served from '85 til '87 when I got out the first time. I went back in later in '87 and served on the USS Ouellet out of Pearl Harbor from '88 til '91. My last duty station was in Patuxent River, Maryland and it was there I got out permanently. I now live in Utah.
