Jerry's Story
Life
I was the first lifeguard at Santa Monica High School in 1970. I loved the job but I was injured in the first several months of work.
My Spouse
I Met her when she was a volunteer at the Scripps McDonald Center where I worked as a therapist with chemically dependent teens.
I have lived in the Desert for 10 years and work as a school psychologist. The desert may may be hot for 5 months, but the people and the other 7 months make it a great place to live. San Diego was once a great place to live prior to 1973.
I joined the Air Force right after my junior year and graduated from San Rafael High while stationed at Hamiliton AFB in Marin, Calif. I went thru a year + of very demanding training, after which entitled me to join Pararescue or become a PJ. I remained a PJ until my body gave out in 1970 and Joined San Diego Police Dept as an Officer until 1984.

back to school and now have worked as a school psychologist for 15 years. I passed the State Exam to be a Licensed Educational Psychologist.
and opening private practice in Aug 2010.
Been working out want to get back into shape after two hip replacements and completely torn achillies, two shoulder reconstructions and 3 surguries on my wrist, having to finally fuse it.
Military
I feel proud to have survived some of the toughest training in the world, (including SEALS) to become a Pararescueman. PJ's as we are known, are responsible for the recovery of downed pilots via helicopter or other means. Give first aid and evacuate them from dangerous areas. We trained for recovery of the Appollo capsule recovery, and believe two PJ's were fortunate enough to recover an Appollo on splash down. I will always feel PJ's are fellow brothers and pray for all present and past PJ's.
