Kay's Story
After graduation I served in the military for three years. I returned to Taft/Maricopa area until 1994. I relocated to Bakersfield in May, 1994 and went to work in the hydraulics business. I married my Mr. Wonderful in April, 1996 and returned to college the following September. I earned my AA in Liberal Studies in June, 1998 and transferred to CSUB where I graduated with my BA in LIberal Studies and minor in English in May, 2001. I completed the teacher credentialing program from CSUB in 2002 and have been teaching ever since. I have two wonderful kids, Zack and Allyson. Zack was born in 1985 and Allyson was born in 1987. Zack is married and has a daughter, Shannon. Allyson is married and has a son, Jayden. They both will turn two this year. How they grow so fast. 5 years. Curt and I live near my school which makes going to work easy. Curt is the parts manager at Bakersfield Truck Center and that is where we met in 1991.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
To blow off steam I like to go to our favorite restaurant and sit in the bar and watch sports on the big screen. I enjoy watching the lakers, dodgers, and chiefs. I also enjoy watching Mark Martin race in the NASCAR circuit. Sometimes I just like to go out in my yard and do some gardening.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my patio and add on a walk in closet. My dream home would be right where I am living.
I'd lbove to seen Mrs. Allison, my first grade teacher, and thank her for being such an inspiration to me and my career choice. I can only dream of being the teacher she was.
