Looking at the THEN and NOW pictures, I realized I've almost grown into my ears. It's certainly been a long road: After I graduated from College of the Sequoias, I served 2 years in the U.S. Army (Germany), graduated from Fresno State with a BA in Psychology. I met my wife, Sharon Sobota from Chicago Il in 1978 at the YMCA camp at Lake Sequoia where we were both counselors, and we married in 1980. I returned to college and graduated from San Diego State with a BS in Industrial Technology. After graduating from SDSU, I started out as the Art Director for an architectural sign company in San Diego, CA. I worked as a designer at a deep sea oceanographic research company, then as a designer at a manufacturing company making high speed environmental handlers. I became the Design Engineer & drafting-document control manager for a manufacturing company in Paso Robles, and moved there in 1988, where we lived for 12 years. In 1999, I accepted a position with engineering at a start-up company in Chatsworth (Capstone Turbine), moved to Valencia (think Magic Mountain) and worked there as a design engineer for 3-1/2 years. ervice with the Army and Marines in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Iraq, as well as a system I designed for the Israeli Military, and an 8-Ton unit for a missile launch monitoring trailer for NASA-JPL. Sharon has her MS in speech and language, teaches at the community college, sees private clients, tutored chemistry and home-schooled all three children through high school.
We have 3 marvelous children, all adults now: daughter Christen Elise attended Cornell where she earned a BS in Nutritional Science, completed her RN program through USC and is married to a pastor, and is now the mother of our first grandson, Corban, born July 15, 2008. Our number 2, Ian Michael currently lives in Hollywood where he is working while he pursues a career as an actor, and performs in a show he wrote. He has also established himself as an in-demand muralist, with his work on display in homes and businesses throughout the LA area, and has traveled with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) to England and Malaysia. Number three, Connor Andrew is in college at Cal State San Marcos to pursue a business degree. His passion is for people and the outdoors, and has served as a river guide on the America River at a Christian Camp in Coloma for several years. He trained as a stuntman and has appeared in television and movies.
