Curt's Story

As a synopsis of the yrs since HS...I went on a church mission in the fall of 82 to, ironically, Utah. Learned much about our Heavenly Father, his children and our purpose here on Earth. Once back home I financialy started from -0-. Went to IUPUI for three semesters, met my wife in the library(sweet story)...I was reading a paragraph in my Soc book, she walked by and if she wasn't enough she was carrying a cup of hot chocolate and a big, "really big" chocolate chip cookie. I was a typical starving college student...I buckled down, read that same paragraph 2 more times...something had to give so I stood up pushed my chair over to her cubical set down next to her introduced myself and that was that(fall86)no I didn't eat her cookie. Lisa and I were married 07/87. While at IUPUI I decided I had dedicated a period of my life to Heavenly Father 24/7 and I wanted to serve our country next. While attending ISU I became a ROTC nerd, graduated in 89 and entered the Air Force via flight school in 02/90. Flew a couple different aircraft, saw the entire US...whoopie...all airports look fairly similar. I ended up in Charleston, SC (01/96)flying the C17, have since seen the world again,whoopie...all airports look fairly similar. One exception since 12/01 most of the airports I frequ...Expand for more
ent have residual bomb damage...you can guess where. This is a matter of irony...In 99 Lisa and I wanted to get out of the active duty (family stability for our then three children) and pursue an airline career. Flew new 747's for a start-up cargo co. for a yr then was hired at Northwest Airlines. By this point we had 4 children. In the next year we had another child (something in the water??) then 911, this is where the irony lies, I found myself doing the AF Reserves full time - doing things that added to the decision of my getting out of active duty in the first place. Back in the civilian world I guess I'm a Delta pilot now due to the merge between the two companies. Don't plan on going back any time soon, holding out for an active duty retirement 12/11...I could retire now if I wanted a reserve retirement ie no money till age 60 thats no fun. Besides airline stability is like Indiana weather. The most important part of this little story of my Life is God and my darling wife Lisa...in spite of my blunders and mistakes God has always provided for our needs and Lisa is the pillar of strenght that keeps our family together and me going. I am truely blessed. By the way we figured out what it was that kept giving us more kids and we still like chocolate chip cookies...
