Curtis's Story
Life
I grew up in Goose Creek, SC right outside Charleston. During my high school years I attended Goose Creek High for my Freshman, Sophomore and Senior years. As a Junior I attended Stratford High School also located in the city of Goose Creek.
After graduating from Goose Creek High,I attended the Citadel Military College on a wrestling scholarship. While at the Citadel, I was a member of India company (India Rocks!)of 3rd Battalion starting off as a knob (freshman) and then serving as a cadre corporal (sophomore), company clerk (sophomore), company first sergeant(junior) and battalion staff officer (senior). I graduated with a BS in Business Administration and Engineering.
I then went to work for Springs Industries as a manufacturing manager for 3 years. After working for a few years, I decided to apply to graduate school. I was accepted into the MBA(Master of Business Admin) program at USC ('97-'98). After my MBA degree I decided focus on International Studies and was accepted into the MIBS (Master of International Business Studies)Program at the University of South Carolina ('98-'00). It's been the top rated International Business Program in the US for awhile. ...Expand for more
There my major was international marketing and German. I graduated in 2000 with my MIBS degree. To improve my German skills, I've lived in Germany, studying German in Cologne and also working at Hewlett-Packard in Boeblingen as a marketing manager. In 2009 I completed the Executive Marketing Management program at the Harvard Business School.
I currently work for Dell Computer Corporation in Austin, Texas as the OptiPlex Desktop Senior Product Manager. I am responsible for Dell's OptiPlex line of products.
We recently moved into a home that we are remodeling close to downtown Austin.
My current freetime activities involve thinking of plans to retire before I get sucked up in the corporate rat race. (I know, I am still always looking for the easy way out!)
I also enjoy brazilian jiu jitsu, running, swimming, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and mountaineering, having summited several peaks in the Colorado Rockies as well as Mt Rainier in Washington State. (Denali in Alaska is on the list sometime in the future hopefully)
I hope all of you are doing well and I wish you all the best. If you are ever in Austin, Texas please let me know!
