Rick's Story
After high school, I went to Trade Tech to learn commercial art. Graduating from college in'71, I worked at The Art Studio for 2 years, then Standard Graphic Arts for 8 years. After 10 years of art, I was so sick of doing artwork for other people, I quit. I joined the LA County Sheriffs Dept in '83. The best assignment, which I hated, was working Malibu. thing like living life to it fullest to feel alive. Life was good, but it all came crashing down one fateful day. I met my wife and got married. No more days coming home bone tired, battered and bruised. It was day shift and a slower station for me. So I transferred to Lomita, which everyone on the Dept calls Slomita. Now my hobby, driving hot rods keeps me alive and counting the days until retirement......
Now I'm retired at 63. I actually retired at 60. The first thing I did was go back to the gym. At 61, I entered the Senior Games in Pasadena and won the Gold Medal for Bench Press. My passion now is weight lifting, which I do 5 days a week. The weekends are kept free for cruising car shows.
