While there, I met my husband, Barry Kelly, a U.Va. student. We married after our third years (in 1967, the Summer of Love) ,and I took a year off to work while he finished his last year at Virginia. He volunteered for the draft and went off to training and then to Viet Nam. Meanwhile, I finished college and taught English for a year and a half at Oakton High School. When he returned from Viet Nam, Barry got a job with the Department of the Interior back in Charlottesville. Despite our best efforts to stay in Virginia, Nixon's consolidating of federal office regions caused us to move to Philadelphia in 1971. We lived in New Jersey, outside of Philadelphia, from 1971 - 2009. In 2009, we moved to the far western suburbs of Philly to be closer to our PA grandchildren.
