Cynthia's Story
I was the shy mouse of my high school. I think only the handful of my dear friends (to this day) even knew I existed at VHS, and that's just fine with me. I've always been a late bloomer which my life continues to prove.
I have the BEST HUSBAND ON EARTH, a true gift from God. I am the mother of four wonderful and accomplished daughters of whom I could not be more proud. We have a bunch of the most intellectually gifted and beautiful grandchildren one could want. Now...does that sound like your typical grandmother speak? Seriously, they are!
Retired from my formal job (not MY REAL JOB OF WIFE, MOTHER, GRANNY) a few years ago, and have loved every minute of it. I always have plenty of projects, sewing, quilting, needlework, baking and writing a family cookbook to preserve the legacy of my father the pastry chef and my family's outstanding cooking/baking knowledge...plus I have lots more learning to do. I've NEVER been bored in my life.
For those who might know my brothers, Glenn and Ed Cox, they are still in the Clarksburg area. I'd appreciate if prayin' folk would say some prayers for Ed as my once exceptionally active brother has been dealt serious blows to his health. However, his wit and humor are well intact.
A few years ago, by total chance, I crossed paths with two gentlemen who had perfected the art of instructing females in the shooting sports. I've never been the same since. Who would have guessed the "class mouse" would want to become a firearms and personal protection instructor? Really? Now as an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, NRA Certified Range Safety Officer, and NRA Certified Refuse To Be A Victim Instructor I get to share the great training some very patient men passed on to me....Expand for more
My husband, a life long hunter and recreational shooter, sort of got dragged along with me in the process, and he too is now an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor. When I took my first class he was "over the moon" with excitement and has been supportive all the way. He tells everyone he'd much prefer to spend time shooting with his wife and daughters (oh, by the way, they too are all well-trained) than with his guy friends. He tells folks that having your wife shoot with you is "better than marriage counseling!" So now we share this sport with our daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren.
The aforementioned family and activities make for one very busy life, but Alan and I take time to instruct NRA Pistol Courses which are accepted for CHL application (Concealed Handgun License), and to conduct NRA Refuse To Be A Victim Seminars....and as many NRA Women On Target Instructional Shooting Clinics as my highly qualified instructor buddies and I can fit into a year. If anyone is curious about any of these NRA Programs feel free to contact us. Our Women On Target events always book full without public advertising and well in advance. If you're interested in a class or a NRA Women On Target Women-Only Instructional Shooting Clinic, contact me; I'm easily located, the local sheriffs can also put you in contact with me. More fun than any girls day at a spa and far more worthwhile! Remember..."You can't beat a woman who shoots!"
I sorely miss the fellowship of my friend and fellow classmate, Janet, who left us way too soon. She was THE BEST! I hope all of my Class of 1966 classmates have been as blessed in this earthly life as have I.
Y'all take care, remember to "practice every day" and say your prayers,
Cindi
