Cynthia's Story
Life
Well, working on 15 years of marriage now...lots of ups and downs, but now it's great! We have 3 children: 10, 5 and 1. I'm a stay at home mom, and they drive me insane!! I'm glad that the 5 YO starts Kindergarten soon! At least a few hours of rest... My husband is a navy chief stationed on a carrier out of Washington state. We're loving it here!! We are renting a house in the sticks. It's an eccentric little place, but it'll do...
School
Remember when adults always said "enjoy your time in high school...it's the best time of your life."?? Well, I wish I would have listened. I despised school my senior year and ran off campus as soon as those stupid graduation caps were thrown in the air. Could have cared less what happened to the darn thing. I was home an hour or so before my mom even returned from the gradution, and I recall she was a bit peeved. There are no pictures of me at my graduation...the only one of her three kids who actually graduated. Ah well, she got over it.
As for college...I ruined all chances of getting into the universities I wanted to go to...probably had something to do with the fact that I didn'...Expand for more
t apply. After dealing with some issues during senior year, the last thing I wanted was to go to university where I would encounter some of the same situations... Did do the city college thing for a while, but what a let down...besides, by then I changed my mind about journalism and had no idea in what direction to go in..
Military
Yes, I did the military thing. Not for any honorable reason...I was just a stubborn brat. I didn't like my new younger step-sister that moved in with us, so I told my mom it was either her or me. Well, since she was younger, of course my mom wasn't going to send her packing, so I had to follow through with my empty ultimatum.
BUT, it was the best thing I ever did. If I could change one thing about my military experience, I wouldn't have turned down the engineers and their persistent pursuit. Though my title of Intelligence Analyst was "cool," I would have preferred being a part of the Army Engineers and actually DOING something, instead of just THINKING and predicting what may happen. Sometimes I still get bashes about 9/11 and the analysts who failed to predict when this threat was going to happen...
