Cynthia's Story

That's My Story and I'm st-st-stick'n to it! Married Frank in Sept. 16, 1965 and lost him to cancer Sept. 29, 2012. We have three lovely daughters as you can see from our 47th anniversary picture above, taken just before Frank died. We have five interesting, intelligent, talented, handsome, nice , cute as a button..etc Grandkids, two wonderful Sons-in-law and a great significant other-in-law. All and all, we've been quite blessed. During Frank's career with IBM we lived in Houston, Tx; Boca Raton, Fl; Roswell, Ga; and Raleigh, NC. where we were living until Frank's retirement at which time we moved to beautiful, suburban Tonto Basin, Az., just three miles up the road from Punkin Center, Az., 15 miles from Lake Roosevelt and pretty much surrounded by Tonto National Forest. Frank was an ardent bass fisherman who spent many, many, MANY happy hours on Roosevelt Lake and Apache Lakes. We won a bunch of little pot tournaments held on the Lake during the summer. Not much money but I still get bragging rights out of it! Tonto Basin is about 80 miles Northeast of Phoenix, Az where most of my family on my Father's side has lived forever!! Our daughters, sons-in-law, and Grandkids all live in the surrounding Phx. area. I am busy taking care of my mammoth donkey, Zeb, 3 horses and mule Shoveling manure...etc., is NOT my favorite activity but seems to come with the territory. I spend untoward hours moving water hoses..etc to keep a couple of acres of pasture mostly green and growing! Wish I had an irrigation system!!! Hindsight!!! Oh well, I have a water cannon and as soon as I can get a pump for my second well, The water cannon will take most of the work out of having a pasture. I also have 3 dogs who keep me well protected from e...Expand for more
verything but loud thunder, and a mostly, or maybe even all, Maine Coon Cat who is a delight. He kinda rules. I'm blessed with some terrific friends who work to keep me entertained and out of trouble. Most of my friends and I ride beautiful country: the Mogollon Rim during the hot summer months and down in my area during falls, winters and springs. I've got 700+ year old Salado Culture ruins from one end of the Tonto Basin to the other, miles of desert and high desert and foothills riding. Soooooo many trails, soooooooo little time!! I got bucked off one of my critters some years ago now, breaking my back, and the amount of time I can comfortably ride has decreased, somewhat. However!! I now have a Tennessee Walking horse that I rode for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Smooth!! I didn't hurt at all when I got off her so maybe I can spend more time out and about! Not much riding with friends has been going on during these Covid times but I have started back on said Tenn. walker now that the temps have finally dropped here in Tonto Basin. As long as I stay within a few miles of my place, I can get phone service to call for help should it be necessary. I think we are now on the maps so if you are interested you can go into google earth and type in 199 N Asher Rd, Tonto Basin, Az., and see the place. We are immediately above Tonto Creek and while our property has not been flooded, water has come half way up the bank. It is probably between a 1/4 and 1/2 mile across the creek where we are and I can tell you it is quite impressive to see water running bank to bank! An an amazing sight!! So! There is much left out but it is lots more than most folks would find interesting so I'm quitting while I'm mostly ahead..
