Cynthia's Story
Update 2016:
Not so social-media oriented so I haven't been on here in - gulp - 8 years?! Oy! Sorry if anyone thought I was ignoring them! Both boys - now 15 and almost 20 - are back in Tucson and life careens on! I've heard it said that you shouldn't end your life sedately walking into the pearly gates but sliding in, scarred and bloody, but yelling "Wow, what a ride!". I'm on the right track! : )
-------
I got a little lost after high school, then my sister told me about a private company that helped kids one step from an adult trial by taking them on an old-fashioned, mule-drawn wagon train, sleeping in teepees and everything. I had so much fun and even got paid for it!
After the wagon train, I got married to a guy who wanted to live in Arizona. So we got out a map to figure out where in Arizona we should go and there were three towns big enough for both of us to get jobs no matter what: Flagstaff with snow, Phoenix that was too big already, and...Expand for more
Tucson. I've been in Tucson for 15 years now and I love it. The marriage didn't last very long so I guess it's purpose was to get me to Tucson.
Life has been pretty good to me out here, actually. I haven't done things in the "right order", so to speak, but presently I have an 11-year old son (Will) and a 6-year old son (Ben) and a 5-year relationship with my husband, Bill Dickens. Married, two kids, a dog and - gasp - a mini-van.
I suppose that's too normal so I should confess that the mini-van is not running at the moment. Public transportation here is fantastic and there are dedicated bike lanes on most streets so biking is my main form of transport anyway.
I also race BMX - 2nd in the state in my "old-lady" cruiser class - and I'm wondering if anybody else out there is racing. Let me know!
Now a question:
I changed my name to Samantha because I was not proud of "Cindy Rees" and the way that I was. How do you remember me? Thanks for the input!
