Cynthia's Story

Life My family moved around the country quite a bit while my sisters and I were growing up. I've landed near LA with my husband, Don, and my twin sons, Matt and Clint, age 20. I graduated from GBHS in '73, PJC for a while, graduated from UF in '76 with B.S. in Journalism-News/Ed. Remember very good times in dorm, then Pi Beta Phi house. Worked at a newspaper in Gainesville, then in radio for a few years in Florida and Ohio. Lived in New Jersey, New York, then moved to Orange County, California. Now in Westlake Village in LA County. Went back to school for my Masters' in Clinical Psychology, worked in private practice, and frankly, after 10 years, gave up on working on my doctorate and just retired from practicing. Very happy, lots more to tell. Hope everyone is in good health and doing what they have always wanted. Thanks for all the great memories, the funny ones are the best! Check work bio for updates on current involvements. P.S. Update here: We're so proud of our twin sons, Clint and Matt. Clint continues to recover from his September, 2004 bicycle accident, but graduated from high school on time with his brother. Matt was awarded a full-ride college scholarship--tuition, book, expenses, etc., and we couldn't be more thrilled. Watch out world! Workplace MILLENNIUM MAYORTHON VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – They showed up in force, traveling from town to town to show support for a cause they know about personally. Each member of the Ventura County chapter of TRIO that followed the Mayorthon through the suburbs of Los Angeles had a story to tell and their presence was truly felt each step of the way. Chapter president Jackie Colleran and public relations coordinator Cynthia Hutchison worked hard to get transplant recipients, media and the general public out to the Mayorthon events. The work paid off. In Thousand Oaks, Mayor Pro Tem Dan del Campo greeted a crowd of about 15 well-wishers. In Westlake Village, Mayor Iraj Broomand was met by a crowd of about 35 people. In Agoura Hills, Mayor Louise Rishoff received the handoff from Special Team Mayor Lou Ogden in front of nearly 50 onlookers. And in Calabassas, Mayor Dennis Washburn spread the Mayorthon message to about 50 people. Each town went one step further, honoring the Mayorthon with a proclamation. Louise Miglin, who is in need of a liver transplant, shared her experiences with those gathered at the Thousand Oaks First Family Pledge Signing Event. As ...Expand for more
transplant recipients, Ron Kadish, left, and Cynthia Hutchison await their turn to sign the First Family pledge, Westlake Village, Cal., Mayor Iraj Broomand signs as part of the Millennium Mayorthon. March-April 2000 SATURN NATIONAL DONOR DAY VENTURA COUNTY--The Ventura County West Valley TRIO, in partnership with Saturn Motor Car Company of Thousand Oaks, held a successful Donor Day at the busy Auto Mall location on February 12, 2000. Penny Strowger, event chairman for TRIO, and six other TRIO volunteers reported an enthusiastic response from Saturn employees and customers. TRIO publicity chairman Cynthia Hutchison had persuaded Saturn to provide a huge model “donor card.” Saturn general manager Gordon Chu and franchise CEO Shau-wai Lam then signed the card during press coverage. WOMAN KILLED WHITE CROSSING T.O. BOULEVARD HIT AND RUN AGOURA HILLS--This memorial at Grey Rock Road and T.O. Boulevard in Agoura Hills is for a female pedestrian who was killed. A 48-year-old nanny died of massive internal injuries last Saturday morning after being struck by a pickup truck on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Agoura Hills. Indalecia Gonzalez, known to her friends at "Hilda," worked for families in Agoura Hills and Westlake Village. Paramedics rushed her to Los Robles hospital in Thousand Oaks where she was pronounced dead. "I said prayers in her ear and stroked her as she drew her last breath," said Cynthia Hutchison, a Westlake Village resident who was one of the first to arrive on the scene. Deputies said Gerry Migliori, 45, of Malibu fled in his Dodge truck after hitting Gonzalez at the intersection of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Grey Rock Road. "About 20 minutes after the accident he called us and came to the sheriff’s station," said Rob Evans, a Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station traffic investigator. "His statement to us was that he freaked out and didn’t know what to do." Migliori said the light was green as he entered the intersection, but a witness to the accident couldn’t say what color the light was, according to Evans. The accident occurred at 7:30 a.m. and because Migliori was traveling east on T.O. Boulevard he probably had the sun in his eyes, according to investigators. The driver wasn’t speeding and no drugs or alcohol were found, Evans said. Migliori was released pending an investigation. "Right now Migliori is looking at possible hit and run," Evans said. "He has a legal duty and a moral duty to stop."
