The following is a true story about one of my "Online Internet Dating Services"
After coming to grips with my life and deciding it was time to move on (translation-> the children have MOVED OUT), I started searching for my "soul mate"
The varieties of online dating services were many, but after reviewing what they had to offer I set up profiles on the most promising services.
The best service had a claim of "millions of singles" and a personality test to help you select your prefect mate. I took the test and it was over two and one half hours long. (Maybe it would have taken less time if my internet connection speed was faster. After all there isn't broad band or cable modem available in the area I live. I've got to use standard dialup and if the speed were any slower then my computer would be communicating by smoke signals.)
I had to choose a picture out of a series for what I would prefer to be doing but it was usually a choice of things I wouldn't be caught dead doing. (Leastways I wouldn't admit to wanting to do some of them)
Then there were all kinds of really personal questions, You know the type, questions like uhmm, well like: those physical type questions. Questions like what kind of sports do you play? What sports do you follow on TV? Then they got to questions that I would have been too embarrassed to ask my wife even when we were married: like how much money do you make?
Finally the test was completed. They said please wait while the test is being scored. Also while waiting for your results would you like to join out exclusive members club for just the price of a small retirement home? Well, they didn't say it that way but that was what the "price" could have purchased.
Anyway the results. Whoa. Look at that report. Twelve pages complete with Pie charts, bar graphs and stats.
The perfect type of woman for me exists in about 6% of the total female population. Ok, (I always thought I was being picky) she exists so there is hope for me .How many men are looking for her? The good news is that 85% of all men don't want her. Looking even better. How many women are looking for my type of man as their match? What??? 96% of women who have taken this test are looking for me (Ok my type)

There were three or four 100% compatibly matches per page on the male looking for male pages while the male looking for female match at the very least put me in my ex's backyard if not back with her.
Now you know why I'm not hot on Online Internet Dating. Ok so I'll give it another chance.
Now I had put an age range of + or ÃÂÿ 5 years. What if I were to change that to, what the heck, say any age up to 57? Ok, data is entered. New search. And the results are----------
Well now I've got a lot of 100% matches, all female, in the age range of eighteen to twenty four years young????
Yea right. Let's see what they are looking for in a man. I see. They want someone 6 inches taller. They want someone 30 years younger. Wait a minute this is starting to sound familiar.
How's that go? Oh yea.
Two friends die and go to heaven. As they are waiting outside the pearly gates they are watching thousands and thousands of ducks inside the pearly gates. Saint Peter comes and lets them in but he warns them what ever you do don't step on any duck. If you step on a duck, it will start quacking, which will start other ducks quacking, and it seems like forever before they stop quacking.
You only get one waning and this is it. If you step on a duck, you will be severely punished for the rest of eternity. After two weeks, one of the men accidentally stepped on a duck. Saint Peter went to the man and was leading an extremely ugly woman on a handcuff. Saint Peter told the man he had been warned so his punishment was to be handcuffed to this woman for the rest of eternity.
His friend saw this so he took extra pains to avoid stepping on any duck. One year to the date of entering heaven, Saint Peter came up to him leading a very beautiful woman on a handcuff. As Saint Peter was handcuffing them together, the man was so over joyed he asked what he had done to deserve this. The woman replied "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck".
I don't think my online match searching can be considered a success.
I swear I don't know about people these days.
Ah well, such is my life.
