Dale's Story
I grew up with both parents and 3 brothers and 4 sisters in Midwest City, Oklahoma. I attended parochial schools, K-10, and then Midwest City High School for my Junior and Senior years. I graduated in May 1967, though my Senior photo is in the Junior class in the 1967 yearbook. In fall 1965 my goal was to meet new friends and have fun, which I succeeded in doing - lots of both! I will never forget the great times and the privilege of having so many friends and acquaintances during those 2 years, and after graduation as well. My high school nickname was "The Duck". Do you remember the "quack" greeting in the MCHS halls? After high school, I worked and took classes at local universities. A few years later, I got married and we moved to SE Oklahoma, where I earned 2 Associate Degrees (Parks Management and Arboriculture; Arboriculture is about trees, landscaping, and greenhouses). We then moved out West and had 1 son, Kris, and later divorced. When Kris was grown, he married (Melissa) and they had two boys, Kolton and Kaleb. He passed away unexpectedly in 2008, and as you can imagine, it was difficult. Over the years, I worked for various federal and state natural resources agencies, universities, etc., accomplished 2 AmeriCorps terms of service, and later coordinated the southwestern region of the sam...Expand for more
e AmeriCorps program. I returned to school and finished my Bachelor's degree (Biology-Wildlife Emphasis) in 2001, continued forward and earned a Masters (Ecology & Natural Resources) in 2003 (my research was on wild turkeys; I suppose that it should have been on ducks, haha). I earned a PhD (Wildlife Science) in 2012 (my doctorate research was on various ecological and behavioral aspects of an assemblage of 5 raptor species). My life has been very outdoors oriented in both work and play. I have moved around within and between states, which has been a source of enjoyment and learning. I have met a lot of folks and made many friends, but have had to leave most behind (or they moved and left me behind). Growing up in a military town and-or coming from a military family, I am sure that you are quite familiar with separation. I trust that you are all doing well. Perhaps we will be fortunate to meet again someday. I notice that a few of you have used this website to leave me a message or the website indicates that you visited my profile, etc. Because I am not a paying Classmates member, I am unable to see who you are (your names have been blurred out). I really would like to hear from you and will need to reconsider whether I should pay for this site. I am on a similar site that only asks for donations.
