Dale's Story

Life Although I was a part of the graduating class of 1972 I graduated in January of '72. Having satisfied all my requirements I couldn't think of ANY reason that I wanted to continue to hang around. Because I was one of those kids that started school early (my birthday was in September) I was only 17 when I graduated. I was working at Smitty's Big Town in the produce dept at the time and they would work me just enough hours to keep me from being full time and getting any benefits. Being 17 meant that I couldn't get into any of the unions to find a better paying job and I didn't have the money to go to college. So, I decided to do what my brother had done the year before and go into the Air Force. I went into the Air Force in April of '72 and went to San Antonio, Texas for Basic Training. I was pleasantly surprised how easily I fit into the military life. Truth be known it was a lot easier than living at home. When I left Basic I went to a Technical Training School in San Angelo, Texas for Security Service as a Communications Analyst. The civilian equivalent for the job would be working for NSA. As I looked at the career opportunities in that field I decided that I wanted to go another direction and learn a trade that I could use after getting out of the Air Force. So, I asked for a transfer and at my new assignment I began learning how to be an electrician. The most significant thing that happened when I was in San Angelo though was that, for the first time in my life, I came to know what it was to have a personal relationship with Jesus. I had always known about Him and believed in Him but, there I actually got to know Him when I asked Him to come into my life and take control. I was transferred to Wilmington, NC to Fort Fisher an Air Force Radar Site. There I learned how to be a journeyman electrician and saw the Atlantic Ocean for the very first time. I was stationed there for two years and was then transferred to Charleston, SC to another Radar Station. While in Charleston I got married to my wife Jenese whom I had met at church while I was in Wilmington. On our first anniversary we found out that my wife was pregnant with our first child. Dawn was born in May a month after I got out of the Air Force in Wilmington where we returned after getting out. Thirteen months later Kellie our second daughter was born and three years later Amber our third daughter (and last child) was born. After leaving the Air Force I worked in electrical construction for a little over a year and then went to work for DuPont where we made polyester yarn. After five years I was going to be laid off and God opened an opportunity for me to work for Carolina Power and Light at their nuclear plant in Southport, NC which is about 45 minutes from Wilmington. on and then I moved to the operations side of the plant and was an Operator for the next five years. I left there in 1991 to go on staff at my church overseeing the Small Groups, Missions and Outreach for the church. At the end of 1993 my job came to an end and I started my own business which I still run today called Health Net. I specialize in Water Conditioning and Purification Systems for homes and Commercial applications. PLEASE SEE THE REST OF MY PROFILE ON THE NEXT TAB SCHOOL. School In 1995 I began working with Family Radio Network, Inc a locally based Christian Radio non-profit organization. I have been working with the ministry full time since 1996 and still maintain my business on a part time basis. I do a morning show on our Praise & Worship station WDVV The Dove 89.7 FM from 6 am until 12 noon. I also do voice work for our other five full power stations and two translators. In addition to the voice work I do I am also the IT tech for the ministry as well as overseeing other technical aspects of the ministry. I enjoy MCing many of the concerts we do and being involved in other community related events. By the way the woman's voice you hear reading Scripture on the station is my wife Jenese. Over the years I have had many different opportunities to be involved in ministry that I am so thankful for. I have taught my own family as well as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. I have been a small group leader and have had the opportunity to preach in many different churches and some prisons as well as nursing homes. I have had the wonderful opportunity to be involved in Mission's work around the world and have been to Spain twice and also to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia. I have truly been blessed by God over the years. All three of my daughters live here in Wilmington. All of my daughters are married now. My middle daughter Kellie and her husband Kevin have two boys. My new favorite job is being Grandpa! UPDATE: My daughter Amber went to be with Jesus when she died in a car accident in Oct of 2010. My wife and I have been married now for over 46 yrs. Although I have been blessed in many ways life has had many challenges over the years. My wife Jenese was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery and treatment. We thank God that she is doing well and has been cancer free for over 20 years now. There are other things as well but, I won't mention them here and now. However, what I will mention is that God has been so faithful to be with us through all that we have experienced and He has given us the strength to make it through it all. I hope that you will take the time to get in touch with me. I would love to hear from all of you who are interested. It is my prayer that you, too have found the joy, peace and salvation that I have found in knowing God in a personal way.

Here’s our amazingly hearty Joseph’s Coat rose on Christmas Day. At the end of October I cut the rosebush down to just a nub. I guess it just wasn’t finished for this year!
