Dan's Story
Ah, yes...the class of '73. I graduated as a 17 year old .A Mc Donalds cheeseburger was 35 cents. BigMac...55 cents. Premium gas was 98 octane and 40 cents a gallon. Cigarettes in a vending machine, 55 cents. Seafarer navy bellbottoms were the rave...then came San Francisco Riding gear. Gawd, the girls looked hot in those jeans. American Grafitti was the movie hit along with the Exorcist. That summer I moved into my first apartment at the Polynesia Trace Apartments.Rent was $110. Keggers on weekends at Apt. A-6. My car was a red 1968 Mustang California Special that pushed over 500 hp. Back then it was probably one of the quickest cars in the area. 12.6 et's. Soon after I owned the very first V8 converted Vega GT. It was cortez silver with a LT-1 350 with a turbo 400 trans. Very fast and a blast to drive. Joint Venture Racing did a lot of work for me on that car. National Auto on 38th and Pacific took most of my money in speed equipment. as in all our cars as well as Peter Frampton and disco was coming on...Coors beer was still an item. My Wilson buddies were Mike Graves, Roger Castle, Cathy Gilligan, Jorgia Bergman, Julia Burk, Mike Smith and Ron Pace and his dog Jake to name a few. I had friends from Mt Tahoma...Mike Say, Tim Shutt, Ray Johnson. And at Foss, Julie Fleming. At 18, pizza was still picked up at the window at the Cloverleaf and Herfys was still like American Graffiti. The cars were magnificent rolling muscle. My girl was from Oklahoma (Sunni) and she could melt your heart with that cute accent. As the years came on, we all went our separate paths. I worked as a cabinet maker for Tacoma Fixture 7yrs where I met Ron Pace... and went to Custom Craft in Puyallup for 5ys. I have since been in Law enforcement with King County on my 28th yr. I have not heard of any Wilson get togethers so I have not seen many of my old buddies since my 20th re-union. Very fond memories indeed....I currently live with my incredible girlfriend Suzanne. We share a home in Bonney Lake with our two kids. Lucky, a short fat and spoiled Corgi and Nitro, a lazy and spoiled jet black 16 lb. cat. bye for now. Dan
