and two girls. I am presently a Captain/Acting Assistant Chief and that is as far as I want to go. We have a house in town and a cabin we built in the bush that can only be reached by boat. I spend a lot of time on committees for Firefighter elevators both Canadian, Bi-national, and International. You can look up Elevator Workshop Atlanta 2004 if you want to see the kind of things we are doing. However I should be retiring in a year or two, and hope to travel.

Looking north from the tower "Ross Dock" lower left, used to be good tommy cod fishing there.
Top of Jersey tower looking east to NYC.
Looking straight down from the top of the Jersey tower, 635 feet from the river if I recall correctly.
This was July 1961, not that I remember the exact month and year. Fortunately I wrote the date on the back of the pictures. Looking west towards Hackensack from the top of the Jersey tower.
This is the toll plaza Jersey side, from the top of the tower. I believe the lower deck was finished or very close to being finished then.
Looking west from the palisades, just north of what is now a historic park.
Looking down from the Jersey tower.
Crane that was working on the cut. looks like the one Creamer Construction used when we built the monorail at Palisades Amusement Park when I got out of the Army.
Looking east from under the top deck at the Jersey tower. The lower deck is not in place yet. You can barely make out the little red lighthouse. December 1959.
The beginning of the lower deck on the Jersey side. Dec. 1959.
Looking south from the lower deck on the Jersey side. Dec. 1959.
Looking south from the top of the Jersey tower,
Building the approach from Jersey side, that hard blue granite of the palisades, lot's of drilling and blasting.
Looking East from the top of the Jersey tower December 1959.
On the new lower deck below the Jersey tower 1959.
Near the top of the Jersey Tower, believe this was as far the the elevator went.
Looking down from the South side of the Jersey tower Dec. 1959. getting the barges ready to bring the lower deck sections in.
I was in the film club at Fort Lee Intermediate School and my dad who worked for the Port Authority took me out to get these pictures in December of 1959. My grandfather also worked on the bridge as a construction boss when
Looking west from the Jersey tower, the beginning of the lower deck being put in place. Dec. 1959.
Went to the beach for a float tonight and a big cloud of smoke rolled in. Lucky it was high enough that it didn't bother us. Must be from the border fires, two of them going right now. At least the water was warm.
