Dan's Story
Life
Just retired this year after 32 years as a research scientist at NASA's Ames Research Center, in Mountain View, CA. My wife, Atsuko, and I have been living in San Jose since our wedding in 1978. I still get together with Keith Onodera and other friends to play basketball every Sunday. Steve Yamada lives in Oakland and we get together for lunch whenever he's in the South Bay area on business.
We have two daughters. Mariko graduated from UCLA in 2006, works for an environmental analysis company in Morgan Hill, CA, and just bought her first car this week. Sachik...Expand for more
o has two more years to go at UC Irvine as an Earth Sciences major (her fourth major so far).
Although I retired in March, I have a few research projects that will not be finished until early next year. Soooo.... I still go to my office and lab two to three days a week for a few hours to direct that research. However, I do have much more free time now. Atsuko and I have made several trips to Lake Tahoe, Reno, and Las Vegas since March, and have trips planned to Southern California, Las Vegas, cruise to Mexico, and a scientific conference in New Orleans early next year.
