Dan's Story
After Landon, I went to Auburn and graduated in 1968, then to Texas A&M for grad school. Drafted in Feb. 1969, spent two years in the Army and returned to grad school.
Met my future wife there, even though I was really not looking for any one and sort of had a "bad attitude" after the Army.
My wife, Rossanne got a B.A. in chemistry and we married in 1973. She got her M.A. and I got my Ph.D. in 1975.
Postdoc fellowship at Rice, in 1975. We moved to Atlanta in 1976. Rossanne says there was no point in having two unemployed chemists in the same family so she went to Emory Med School, graduating in 1981. I worked for Ga. Tech Engineering Exp Station for 3 years, and then went to Bell labs for the next 24 years. I retired and went into teaching chemistry. First...Expand for more
Ga. Perimeter College, then Emory for 5 years and now Auburn teaching the analytical, physical, inorganic, and instrumental analysis.
We have two children, Dana and Glenn.
Dana is a senior at Texas A&M getting her degree in International Studies and History (dual degree) with a minor in Russian. Spent last Summer in Russia doing her third year of Russian. She will also get a certificate from the Bush School of Public Policy, in Security. (She can't have three degrees)
Glenn is a junior in high school and an accomplished Cellist. He is first chair is his advanced school orchestra and plays with the Buckhead Youth Symphony here in Atlanta.
