Dan's Story
Having spent only part of my high school days at North due to my family moving a couple of times (Nov-June of our sophomore year, and from Jan of our junior year until we graduated), I only got to know a couple of classmates well. (Herbert) Mark Moore because we grew up together and Mary Roth because she was my brothers first wife. However, North is very special to me, and I have many found memories of my time there.
After graduation I enlisted in Navy. The plan was to do one enlistment and use the GI bill to pay for college. Fifteen surprisingly wonderful years in the Navy later, I finally got around to using that GI bill. During my 15 years in the Navy I was stationed in Norfolk, Va., St. Paul, Mn., and San Diego, Ca. I traveled all over the world and have set foot on every continent except for Antarctica. I have traveled to many countries in Northern Europe, Western Europe, Southern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
I am married to Cindy (McCullough), a 1977 graduate of St. Francis DeSales....Expand for more
We are celebrating our 25th anniversary on 7/26/2008. We have three grown children. We moved back to Columbus after I left the Navy to be closer to our extended family.
My training in the Navy was in electronics and computer technology. When I left the Navy I get a BS in Workforce Education and Development and went to work for Meijer as a Senior Technology Specialist. After 10 years there, I was tired of the whole computer network environment and dealing with fixing other people¿s problems all day, (wife calls it my midlife crises) so I left that job and went to graduate school. I ended up with two master¿s degrees, on in Adult Education and Distance Learning and one in Middle School Teaching. This brings me to today.
I am now a technology and social studies teacher at St. James the Less School on Oakland Park Ave. I just can't seem to make a clean break from the world of technology.
There you have it. In a sense I have lived my life in reverse. I traveled as a young man and have decided to teach middle school as my "retirement" job.
