Dana's Story
After graduation I went to work and then decided to go back to school. I received an AA from LBCC, and a Bachelors and Masters degree from CSULB. I starting teaching at Cypress College in the Health Science Division in 1974. I received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence while teaching classes in pathophysiology (human disease), medical-legal (malpractice),and others.
I retired in 2008, but have continued to teach 2 classes since then at Cypress. Ten years ago I started teaching 2 classes part-time at CSULB in the Health Care Administration program and am still teaching those classes. I will be teaching a new class at Mount Saint Mary's University starting next week. Not much of a retirement I guess (full-time was 4 classes, I'm now teaching 5, yikes).
I have one son, Chris, who is now 42 and lives i...Expand for more
n Rio de Janeiro and is currently having fun going to the Olympics. I enjoy visiting him in Brasil and traveling in South America. Teaching has allowed me to travel much of the world in the summers.
I enjoy rock, blues, and jazz concerts (my boyfriend is a musician) and we go to about 2-3 concerts a month on night when he's not playing. I still scuba dive (last time was a few weeks ago), skiing (been awhile), going to the gym (well, this I don't enjoy), and hanging out with friends. I still live in Long Beach.
I am co-chair of our reunion committee and we are staring to plan for our 55th next year. I will be creating a Facebook page for this in a few weeks. Mo (Brady) Mobley is the other co-chair to contact. Please check it out if you're interested in attending or just stopping by to say "hi".
