Dana's Story
Life
After leaving Guam, my family was transfered to Rapid City, South Dakota. I lived there off and on for 3 years. I eventually moved to St. Louis, Missouri permanently to attend college and work. I graduated college with a degree in occupational therapy and started working for hospitals and contract agencies/nursing homes. I currently work for a small hospital just across the border in Illinois and have been there for the last 7 years. Workplace
After graduating college, I worked for St. Louis State Hospital in short term care for 2 years. It was never a dull moment working with the mentally ill and chemically dependent. From there I worked for a contract agency traveling between rural nursing homes in Illinois driving about 100 miles per day for 2 years. I currently work as a COTA for a small hospital in Illinois on an inpatient unit with opportunities to treat patients on physical rehab unit, acute care unit, ICU, joint replacement unit, and outpatients.
