Dana's Story

Life My Spouse I met him in New York, we worked together as Air Traffic Controllers. We do not have any children unless...dogs count. That's how us people are who don't have children. Haven't you ever noticed--when asked the question "Do you have children?", we always answer, "No...but I have four, five, six (or however many) dogs...cats...iguanas...hamsters..." it's a given. If one doesn't have children, then one usually collects an animal/animals of some sort. It's like a funny farm at our house! My life story really. My Pets We have four labrador retrievers who we train to compete in AKC registered field trials and one miniature poodle who I adopted because he's a little quirky. I knew his former owner--and knew she'd have a hard time finding him a home where they'd understand him and his unusual ways. Footnote: Teddy, the poodle, passed away earlier this year (2004), turns out not only was he quirky, his pancreas was as well. My Job I am a Neuromuscular Therapist. NMT is a specific type of body work that helps people recover from chronic pain situations (most times caused by trauma, sports/car accidents etc.) or to avoid them all together. I work for myself out of an office, an independent contractor, if you will. It's tough work, physically demanding. el in our area and boarding dogs for a living. We know so many people in the dog world already we figure "why not". Scooping poop for a living may not sound too exciting and/or glamorous to some of you but take a look at the general public the next time your out and about, keep in mind that I'm working on these bodies everyday, now tell me what you think! You can see where I'm coming from can't you? Besides...we'd get to enjoy the great outdoors, the peace and quiet of a gentle country side setting--ahhhh, it's my Zen thing. Brian (the other Walljasper in this story) still directs airplanes as an Air Traffic Controller. (I'd like to say he controls planes, I control him but that wouldn't be entirely true or fair!) We learned that one ATCer in the family was sufficient, too much "shop talk" otherwise. (On the bright side though--atleast we're still talking after all these years). He will be retiring in a few more years and thinks the dog kennel thing (some Martha Stewart humor here, if you will allow me) is a "good thing". Two married people scooping dog poop in their retirement years--I would have never written that in my yearbook way back when. One just never knows what little curves or opportunities life is going to throw our way. All in all--life is good! Love to hear from you, thanks for taking the time to read this, Dana
