Dana's Story
After high school I attended Paier Institute of Art. Pursued advertising & ad agency work (didn't like the stress). Took a position aboard a yacht, sailed a bit, loved the life...but had to get serious about design. Back into the stress! Worked for Coleco...got an itch to be in the toy industry. Did a five year hiatus with Hallmark in KCMO. Great company! Loved the job, the people-really disliked tornado's! No ocean out there, no salt air, absolutely no seafood! Moved East again, this time, married. Got back into the toy bizz. Worked for Crayola, Playskool, Hasbro, blub-blub. Opened my own design consulting business in RI. Did well! asted! All that is out-sourced now (to China). Adios toy bizz! Divorced (no kids). Moved to San Francisco. Worked there, then came back here. Remarried a year later. Have three grown great step-kids, now with their own family's. Beautiful grandkids! Life has changed a bit! Grew -up a lot...saw the US, realized the Northeast is for me. It's all here!
Making a new business back where it all began, art & sculpture! Did a stint as Exhibits Coordinator for Mystic Seaport Museum. Pursuing folk art via a maritime flavor now and antiques. Cindy and I love living down here in Mystic. Water all around us, literally. Favorite saying: Life is so short..so live it and don't sweat the small stuff!
