Dana's Story
I went to undergrad at ASU, graduated in 1989, got my Master's from Belmont Abbey in 1996..went to work for Gaston County Schools in 1990..worked there for 17 years at Cramerton Middle School, left Gaston County worked for 1.5 years as an environmental specialist for Mecklenburg County Govt., went back to teaching for 1 year in Guilford County..came back home. I hated Ashbrook..I have no good memories of that place or most of the people. It is sad when you aren't even invited to your own 25th high school reunion, but that is typical of the people who were "in charge" of "our" class. I am helping my mom with her 50th High School Reunion and I am enjoying that so much. I never married for obvious reasons (I'll let you think about that on your own). e years. I love to read. I read constantly. I have discovered photography since I have been unemployed for over a year. I suffer from major depression and anxiety and can no longer teach. I"m about to go back to school to study paralegal technology, web technology, and accounting. I'm looking for Part 2 of my life to be much happier than Part 1. Although, I do not have fond memories of Ashbrook, I respect those of you who do. It is sad that our alma mater has turned into a "rough" school. I do have to say that we were proud to be Green Waves and that we had a nice safe place to go to school. I feel sorry for young people now who have to deal with things we never thought of...I'm happy I don't have children...the world is a cruel and evil place and I know my kid would have been just like me...sensitive, deep thinking, intelligent, and caring...qualities that are no longer valued in the 21st century.
