Well. i am 41 and i had my first heart attack in 2001. They did the balloon thingy and said they couldn't do stents cuz my veins were like that of an 90 year old man ( I was 30 at the time). that was in march then in may I had another one.Another balloon and meds that time. Was okay after that just lived with chest pains and such. in 2002 found doc that said he "could" do the stenting for me. I have 5 stents, done up until 2004 when I had a stroke.No real heart problems from then till Sept. 2010. And that is when...Expand for more
i started having CHF episodes. From the 2nd till the 27th i went into congestive heart failure 4 times. They shipped me to The Methodist hospital in Houston where they started doing the work-up for a transplant. After all the testing and meetings they came back and said I wasn't qualified for transplant because I hadn't been quit smoking for 6 months (only a month). So, they said i had to have the pump to stay alive. I had the pump and 2 bypasses done on the 11th of October and went home on the 7th of November. Now they are saying that they are hoping that my heart will get strong enough to where I won't need a transplant and the pump can be removed. My mom was with me the whole time and i don't think I would have made it without her (SHE IS JUST AWESOME). My boyfriend ( of 11 years) could not come to Houston with me cuz of work but he helps me alot even before the Lvad cuz of the stroke. It didn't paralyze me but i have limited use and feeling on the left side. i try to do everything that i can by myself. i have a 17 yr. old son that lives with his dad in Cleburne, TX.
