Fellow DHSers, It's been a long time! I hope you are doing well and enjoying life to the fullest. I am married to Darryl Herndon, brother of fellow classmate and dear friend Savanna Herndon Rimbey. Darryl and I met on a blind date in December 1975 and we have been together ever since! I have been living in Monrovia for over 30 years now but not in the same place. Darryl, with the help of his brothers, built three homes for us in the Monrovia area. We've been in our current home in Ridgeway Farm the longest, nearly 22 years. I didn't complete my college degree immediately after high school since I felt I needed some job experience under my belt in order to know the path I wanted to take. It was through my involvement in the acquisitions field, first with the Department of Commerce, then with the Army, that I found my calling. With the support of my family and a big push from one of my supervisors, I began my journey back to college in the late 1980s. I eventually earned my AA from Frederick Community College in Business Administration, my B.A. in Business Management from Hood College, and my M.S. in Acquisitions and Contracts Management from the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). I also completed Certifications in Contracting (Level III) and Program Management (Level I) from the Defense Acquisition University. Once I got going again, I just kept on going! I suppose when you find something you love doing, it makes the hard parts, like going to college, much easier.
