Dana's Story

Life After school I went to work right away and ended up in the transporatation field. I married my husband Anthony when I was 22. We got engaged after 4 months of knowing each other and here we are 20 (married 18) years later. We have three gorgeous sons together (age 12, almost 8, and 5 months). Our first home we lived in was in Belleville and with our growing family we purchased a new larger home 7 yrs ago in Rockaway Twp., N.J.. We live in a lake commmunity and we absolutely love it! Our eldest son is Anthony is very energetic and kind. He is a real boy. Loves to fish, pick up snakes, swim, and go on nature walks. Now that he is in middle school he loves to also play Runescape and girls call our house all the time. My middle child Victor is 8 now. He loves to build things, swim, and has the best imagination. He also loves all the icky boy stuff too! My youngest Nicolas is now five. He keeps right up with his elder brothers. He is also very active and smart like his brothers. He also is a great swimmer, loves everything his brother's do, and is very good on the computer. It amazes me to see a five year old logging in and typing. All my boy's are very close and consider each other their best friends. As a matter of fact, they are so close that they hardly ever have a need to ask to go to or have a friend over. I really love how close they are. Although, my boys always had short hair they all decided to grow it long and everyone loves it except the grandparents. I'm also glad they like good music. Mostly, rock. I've introduced them to my classic rock and they've introduced me to some of the newer rock. But we like mostly all types of music. I love having three boys and I'd still like one more child (but the constant school battles have put a damper on this for us, you'll see why later in this post) . Being a mom of three boys sure makes life hectic but I am very high energy. I have my own business as a transporatation broker although it get's harder with the price of fuel...Expand for more
. But I have managed to make a good living thus far. I work "on the go" half the time. I am also a class mom and always participate in every activity that I am allowed to for my children. Additionally, I help parents advocate for their children. Advocating for children and all people with disabilites has become a HUGE part of my life. I learned to advocate for children through my own experiences of having very bright children that have disabilites such as dyslexia, sensory integration dysfunction, and ADHD. I still enjoy my music and traveling. My children love to travel too. We also partipated in an international aupair program sponsoring girls from other countries. So now we have many friends from around the world. One of my best friends is Michaela is from Switzerland and she has spent 5 summers with us and we talk every Saturday. She'll be here in 2 more weeks. I also enjoy decorating, gardening, cooking, and parties. I am still a little wild as I was in school but in a good way and the kid's like having a crazy mom. Now I guess I should talk a bit about my husband. I'm still crazy about him after all these years. Of course, 20 years have been up's and down's but the up's definately outweigh the downs. He also is in transporation. He is a truckdriver but the kind who is home everynight :). He is an amazing husband and dad. And after all these years he still does very nice or cute little things for me. The only people I keep in touch with from high school are Maria Monte (now Mascuch) and her husband Steve. Funny I spent prom night with them and Maria is the reason I met my husband by throwing her 21st party at The Jetty. Other then that I always have a story and sometimes wish my life was a bit more boring. Honestly, this past year was a rough one between my husband being unemployed for awhile for the first time in our marriage, more school battles, a death in our family, etc... but we made it. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
