Dana's Story

Life After law school, I worked briefly for Hastings Research Services and for about a year at the California Court of Appeal. Since 1979, I have been a writer and editor for Matthew Bender & Co., Inc. It was then owned by Times Mirror but has since become part of LexisNexis. My specialty is federal evidence law. Some publications that I edit (and occasionally rewrite bits of) are occasionally relied on by the United States Supreme Court and are cited regularly by federal appellate and trial courts. I continue to live in San Francisco, have sung or acted with the bay Area Lutheran Chorale, the San Francisco Civic Chorus, the Pacific Gay and Lesbian Singers (including ...Expand for more
solos sung in Grace Cathedral), and Mothertongue Readers' Theater. I have worshipped in and conducted all or parts of services at St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Congregation Sha'ar Zahav. My latest interest is playing the recorder, a flutelike instrument used mostly to play early music. I attend week-long workshops on recorder playing, provide musical direction to a small group of friends with whom I play regularly, and serve as vice president and web conductor of the San Francisco Chapter of the American Recorder Society, where I conduct the playing session that constitutes our monthly meetings once a year. I have also transcribed a few peces of music for recorders.
