Daniel's Story
The jobs at Schrafft's, General Adjustment Bureau, and C. I. T. were all summer jobs and all paid one buck an hour. The Brooklyn Public Library was an after school and Saturday thing and compensation was a magnificent $0.75 cents/hour. Part of the job was collecting long overdue books (6 months or more, I think) from the homes of the miscreants who thought that the Brooklyn Public Library didn't have an enforcement division. x leads to heroin) thought that we had forgotten about. Well, I can reveal to all that the Brooklyn Public Library never forgets! After a few weeks I really got into the "bounty hunter" role. After a few hard bangs on the door and a loud "Brooklyn Public Library Open Up!" I got books up the ying-yang. "No no, just the books ma'am". Well, that was a phrase that never really came up, but use my story as a cautionary tale to your young loved ones: That book crime doesn't pay very well. Neither does stopping it.
