Daniel's Story
Military
Boot camp was great. I loved it. The only thing I would do different is my wife should be very close to the base.<grin>
I was trained as a Radio Teletype Operator w/ Morse code. Later I qualified as a Team Chief in the same MOS. We worked with radios, Generators, trucks, gammagoats, etc. Went to the field often and communicated.
I was first in Germany for about 2 years and loved it. My first Sgt was a German born n...Expand for more
aturalized US citizen. Wherever we went he got us in good with the locals. WE trained all over Germany and saw many of the sites. On weekends I would take my family to many of the old walled cities, and the same places I had just trained in. Great 2 years.
The last year I spent at Fort Bragg in an Artillery unit. Not so much fun. Although I did eventually start running 10-15 miles for exercise. Physically those were my best years.
