Daniel's Story
I was married for 40 wonderful years until my wife Carolyn passed away 3 years ago. Now my life is completely dominated by my 2 dogs my two daughters and their families consisting of 16 year old grand twins Calla and Riley who are in my band at Riley High School, and 5 year old Amelia who lives around the corner, as well as 4 dogs and 2 cats. My life also is very involved my school family of 135 high school band students and 120 intermediate school band students. I'm enjoying teaching so much that I want to last until at least 70. I have been teaching band for the past 41 years, with the last 11 at James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend. Music has been a wonderful part of my life, especially band. I met my wife playing in band in college. She was the first flute player and I would smile at her every time she turned around. I guess she liked my smile. Thank you Mr. Sohn for being such a wonderful role model.
It's been a long time since I have seen or talked to high school friends. I hope everyone and their families are doing great and enjoying life.
