Daniel's Story
Life
After graduation, I attended UMKC for 4 years and got a biology degree, then went on to medical school at St. Louis University for 4 more years. Then on to the Univ. of Ks. for anesthesia and pain management residency for 3 more years.(Whew. long ass haul). I then joined the anesthesia doctors at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in1985 doing Operating room anesthesia, Pain Clinic, Obstetric Anesthesia, trauma, intensive unit care. I met my wife when we were in residency at KU and married her shortly after we both came to SMMC in 1988. She was a gynecologist (Cynthia Drake, M.D.)here in Overland Park for 20 years before closing her practice and becoming a professor at UMKC medical center teaching residents and medical students. I left hospital OR practice in 2002 and started my own private practice office doing interventional pain management where I continue to see and treat patients.

aine (24y/o), and Blake (20y/o). We moved from Overland Park in 2012 to Lake Lotawana after 2 kids moved out of the "big house". Now more of a slower life on the lake. Laine just graduated from Creighton in Omaha with a business degree of some kind (I can never remember but it has to do with computer informatics) and works for BE Smith here in town. Grant is a medical sales rep for Zeiss Operative Microscopes in the midwest region and lives here in OP. He and his wife, Jenny, gave us our first grandson, Leo, on 11/13 and granddaughter, Layla on 9/15. Blake is in college at Mizzou. He is in the engineering/MBA program?
We have been fortunate to have traveled extensively with the kids while they were growing up. Mexico, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, Italy, Greece, England, France, Egypt, Jordan. Hopefully they will have a broader view of the world they live in and not just that everyone else eats yucky food and talks funny.
