Daniel's Story
Life
I'm currently living in Monticello, MN, with my wife, our three daughters (born in 2005, 2007, and 2008) and our cat. I work at the University of Minnesota Medical Center as a Psychiatric Associate.
School
I received a Bachelor's Degree from St. John's University in Collegeville in 1984, and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Cloud State in 1988. In 2002, I earned a Computer Programmer Diploma from St. Cloud Technical College. At some point in the future, I plan to earn a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Minnesota.

Workplace
After earning a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1988, I worked for a several years as a Case Manager/Social Worker with Sherburne County Social Services. During some of that time, I was also a youth counselor at the St. C...Expand for more

In 1993, wanting a break from the strain of working with the mentally ill, I accepted a job with the U.S. Postal Service. I was stationed at the same downtown St. Cloud office where my dad had worked since 1969. I enjoyed being a clerk and a letter carrier for six years, but gradually felt I had to return to psychology.
Today, I'm a Psychiatric Associate at Fairview-University Medical Center, on the Riverside Campus near the East Bank of the U of M.
In the movies, I'd be shown as "the orderly in a psych ward", wearing an all-white suit, standing by a padded cell with a patient in a straight jacket. That image is far from reality, but my job is still very interesting. I've always found it a privilage to help people in times of crisis, and I have a life-long interest in the workings of the human mind.
