Daniel's Story
Life
Though I'm a graduate of Music and Art in New York City, I must also say hello to my classmates from Kenter Canyon Elementary and Paul Revere Junior High in West Los Angeles CA, Louis Pasteur Junior High School 67 in Queens NY, and the Franklin D. Roosevelt School in Lima, Peru, not to mention my classmates from the Stanford University class of 1973. For those who wonder what I've become, think "Seinfeld"; I live in midtown Manhattan, still single but, hey, you never know, and spend my time hanging around the city with lovably goofy friends, sharing interests in theater, concerts, movies, you name it. I've worked for 31 years for the Social Security Administration, devoting a substantial...Expand for more
portion of my time on the job as an executive of the American Federation of Government Employees. My major hobby is music, specifically the Gilbert and Sullivan operas, more specifically conducting performances of G&S operas (though you may also recall me playing the cello, which I still do sometimes). I have served as Music Director of the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island and the Ridgewood (NJ) Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company. You can see highlights from my performances on YouTube under "Daniel Kravetz Conducts Gilbert&Sullivan." My greatest achievement in life is being perhaps the only native of Los Angeles who has never owned a car. And how was YOUR last half-century?
