Daniel's Story
Life- updated 1-2018
Married 31 years, no kids, 2 cats. Own a home near Huntington Beach pier. My career: I help build satellites. Just finished assembling solar shield deployment system for NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. My wife has been retired for many years and volunteers at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach. We enjoy traveling and have explored the world visiting everywhere from the Blarney Castle in Ireland to the Amazon River in Brazil.
I'm amazed I'll be 60 this year, never thought I would last this long.
Since 1983 I've had a long running battle with stage 4 thyroid cancer.
So for my 60th birthday, I'm going on 2 cruises. One beginning in Florida sailing the Caribbean for 2 weeks, and one starting in England exploring Berlin, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Brugge, Estonia, and...Expand for more
St. Petersburg Russia. Pretty grand adventure.
Growing up poor on welfare in Bell Gardens made a deep impression on my life.
Many times at Suva elementary school I was called white trash and got kicked around a bit. I still remember wondering what it all meant and why most other kids disliked me. Of course as I got older I figured it all out. Being poor meant essentially I was meaningless to society. So as an adult, I have more than made up for it. To those of you that looked down on me... Thank you. The memory of your scorn is still fresh in my mind, pushing me to work very hard. Allowing me to live the high life and succeed extremely well.
If your not the lead dog..... the view never changes.
Hope you are all well and enjoying life.
We only get so many good days.
Cheers,
Dan
