Daniel's Story

Life Right after graduation I enlisted in the Air Force, yes the United States Air Force not the Polish or Irianan or anything like that, they were hard up for recruits. I was an alternate for the Air Force Academy but desided I needed to get out of the house as well as Ohio. Places to go people to meet you know. Anyhow, I was quickly sent to Davis-Monthan AFB (Air Force Base) in Tucson Arizona. My Brother Dave (also a graduate from North in 1974) was stationed there as well. (Same Bat-time, same Bat-Channel.) Anyhow, it was there where I met my future wife. The former Dolly Ann Bloodworth of Ludlow Massachuettes. We've been tied togeather ever since. We have two son's, Bryan 25 & Adam 19. (Brandy was our first but she died when we were both young and dumb and children ourselves and were stationed in Tucson and she is burried there) Bry has graduated from U/T Martin with 2 B/S degrees and is working on his masters up at Western Kentucky U (Bowling Green Kentucky). Adam graduated high school last year and is now attending U/T Martin. Both are extreme smart kids (Of course I'm Bias) Anyway back to Dol & I. We both finished off 20 years for Uncle Sam in the Air Force and she is currently fully retired, which makes my life somewhat interesting, if you know what I mean. I've been around the world: Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Phillipines, Guam, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, (don't tell Dol about Kuwait, she doesn't know about that one, not yet anyway) Baharain, Germany, Mexico, Canada and Panama. And been to about half of the states. I used to love to travel. I've worked the F-117 Nighthawk, when it was supersecret (Can you say Area 51, neat huh? And there were not any Aliens either, I swear). Even Dol didn't know where I was at the time. I am the only, in the history of the United States Air Force, airman to ever graduate from the United States Navy's Chief Petty Officers School at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. I got out of the AF in 1996 and wanted a job where I didn't have any responsiblity for anything or anyone but myself. How'd that work out? Glad you asked. It lasted about 2 years and I was back in school. Two years later I finished my B/S in Orginzational Leadship. A couple of job interviews later (didn't get either job, I've got somewhat of a bad dispostion you know and I am known for being a smarta**. I tend to speak my mind, even at my own expense) and I was back in school. By 2002 I was a well educated (company funded of course) welder. Another job interview with the CFO for a computer job, he asked me what I was doing with a MBA working in a weld shop. I said: "working, got to have a job or I'll kill someone" Ten years plus later I'm the Production Manager for Ceco Door Products, Custom Door manufacuring line here in Milan Tennessee. Still looking for no responsiblities but if you don't try to make a differance in life, then you cannot complain. I've got 6 bays of garages, all filled with toys. I've got 4 dogs, "Wiggles" (Professional name: Lady Wiggles, she's registered) "Rusty", also a weinner dog, "Tiggur", a whippet, and "Bear", a mutt. All females and great joys to both Dolly and myself. I've got a fully stocked bar (with pool table, dart board, poker table, air hockey, 14 foot schuffle board and tons of tunes, I love music). I got a fully functional gym above the other garage. (I really enjoy stay home time at the house). I've got a 51' F-1 Ford P/U and two bikes. A 2007 Harley RoadKing Classic and a 2002 Indian. When I'm not tied down at home or at work (which is rare, not for home, but for work) I'...Expand for more
m on one of the two of them there bike's eatin' up the road. I love my family and friends and am lovin' life. I hope to make it to one of our reunions if I ever get invited, but if I don't, I think I'll survive. Dol & I have been away from family and friends for so long, we make due with what's at hand. So you all enjoy life and take care. May God bless each and everyone of you as he has me and mine. Class of 76 rules. Take care.....Dan School I had a secret crush on Suzy Proegler/Bevis for a long time. She kind-of knew it, but it never amounted to anything. No others I guess. College Graduated from the Community College of the Air Force in 1991 with a A/S in Aircraft Technology. Graduated from Union University in 2000 with a B/S in Orginazational Leadership. And then again in 2002 with a MBA from Union. No real roommates or friendships formed at any of these institutions. Workplace Flipped burgers at Sambo's in Willowick Ohio until I graduated high school. Then 21 years in the Air Force and the last 10 plus years at Ceco Door Products here in Milan Tennessee. Military After basic training in San Antonio, I went to Davis-Monthan AFB Tucson, Arizona. I worked on A-7D's Corsair II's until we transitioned to A-10 Thunderbolt II's. I was offered a new assignment at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas Nevada, but was not told what I would be working on. When I got there I was asigned to the 4450th Tactical Group working A-7D's & A-7K's which was a two seat version of the A-7D. But at this point the Air Force had turned all A-7's over to the National Guard units. So I was taken to an undisclosed area and was asked if I would consider working on a new project. After several stacks of paperwork to be signed and a polygraph test, I was show a picture of an aircraft that had a rather weird looking apperance. It turned out to be the prototype of the F-117 Nighthawk. Was flown out to an undisclosed sight for the next three years worked on accepting new Nighthawks for the Air Force. (Still glow in the dark at night) Then moved to Randolph AFB Texas. Worked on the T-37's & T-38's. Stayed there for 3 years and was moved to Kimhea AB South Korea where I worked on F-15's, F-16's, UH-60's, C-130's, WC-130's, F-4's and RF-4C's (Reccon version of the Phantom) at the depot facility. Then back to Randolph for a stint on T-37's again. Then moved to Kadena AB Okinawa to work on F-15C's & D's (two seat version of the C model). Then back to Randolph again for a stint on T-39's, T-43's, T-1A's, T-37B's & T'38A's as a quality manager. This was my last assignement until retirement. I've been stationed at or TDY to: Lackland AFB Tx, RandolphAFB Tx, Sheppard AFB Tx, Davis-Monthan AFB Az, Luke AFB Az, Nellis AFB Nv, Tonopah AB (Air Base) Nv, Kimhea AB (Republic of Korea) Rok, Osan AB Rok, Teague AB Rok, Anderson AFB Guam, Clark AFB Phillipines, Kadena AB, Okinawa, Hondo AB Tx, Reese AFB Tx, Laughlin AFB Tx, Dyess AFB Tx, Kelly AFB Tx, Ramstein AB Germany, King Abdul Aziz AB, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fort Hood Tx, Fort Campbell, Kt, Robin Grey AF Tx, Carswell AFB Tx, Lockheed Plant, Calf. I also did a short stint on the Aircraft carrier U.S.S. Constellation while in Desert Storm, the first one. Myself and my troops were trained on the EA-6 Prowler, S-3 Viking, F-14 Tomcat, F-18 Hornet, E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 Cod because we were assigned Crash Recovery at King Abdul Aziz and needed training on all Naval Aircraft. This was a very eye opening experiance and high point of my career and a real treat. (That and the Nighthawk assignement)
