Daniel's Story
Life
Currently, I am a 5th grade teacher in the Clark County School district in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been a teacher for 3 years now. This is just the latest of my many "careers." After high school, I attended the University of Maryland and got a BA in Theater. I took a year off and was a forklift operator in a warehouse. I returned to school at the U, of Connecticut where I get an MA in theater. Following that I got married, moved to New York where I worked as an electrician at the NY Shakespeare Festival. I also worked as an assistant to Martha Swope, a theater and dance photographer. For a while, I also owned a business shooting dance and photography. After a couple muggings and a divorce, I moved to Santa Cruz, CA in 1980. There I worked in a health food restaurant, a photo lab and eventually, a photo studio, where I worked in the lab, asssisted the owners on photo shoots and later became a wedding photographer. esa. We moved to Lake Tahoe in 1985, where we were married in 1988, had our twin boys, Gabriel and Nolan in 1991, and skied as often as we could. While in Lake Tahoe, I worked on the casino floor making change, then ran the showroom photo lab, then bartended. I also worked for a photo studio concurrently as the head lab technician and as a wedding photographer. In 1993, we moved to Collierville TN ouside Memphis. My wife had gotten a promotion to a headquarters job (she worked for Harrah's Casino) I semi-retired at this time to run the house and raise the boys, shooting an occasional wedding on Saturdays. I was President of the PTA at my sons' school.In 1997, we moved to Las Vegas where I worked as office manager for a commercial photographer. Four years ago (2001), I went back to school to get the credits needed to become a teacher. Every day is a joy Room 29.
At home, my kids are 14 and already 6 feet tall. My wife, Teresa, is absolutely the best thing that ever happened to me.
