Daniel's Story
Married 45 years this July to Anahid Tashjian, a lovely Armenian born in Aleppo, Syria who speaks five languages and earned a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences at UCLA. We have one daughter, an MD in child psychiatry, and two lovely grandsons who live in LA, 50 miles (or one hour) away. We are both retired university professors. I have lived a total of 13 years in Cairo, Egypt while undertaking archival research into 17th-18th century Egyptian history. We have lived on four occasions for periods ranging from 6-10 months in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia when one of us was affiliated with the University of Sydney or the University of Queensland. We continue to travel extensively in retirement, usually spending a total of 3-6 months a year abroad in such places as Europe, South America, New Zealand, or the Middle East. Last year I lectured at Moscow State University and in Arabic at Ain Shams University in Cairo. This summer we will visit Eastern Europe for 5 weeks. We LOVE to travel.
