More about Daniel:"Confucius once said, "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." In my life this is definitely true. Life is simple when I am following the man who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the LIFE" (John 14:6). It is when I drift away from the Bible's teachings and the Holy Spirit's guidence that life gets complicated.
Years ago, I discovered just how simple life can be by answering this riddle: "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me [Jesus], will find it. What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?" (Matthew 16:25-26). It was in giving my life to Jesus that I found who I was born to be. Over the years, God continues to refine my character to become the man of God I need to be to lead my family and teach my students. If Marianne Williamson is right and "the purpose of our lives is to give birth to the best which is within us," it is my God that makes this possible.
So my life really is simple. As long as I am "in tune" with where the Spirit is moving in my life, the rest is taken care of. It's as King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:11, "God has made everything fit beautifully in its appropriate time, but He has also placed ignorance in the human heart so that people cannot discover what God has ordained, from the beginning to the end of their lives." So, I may not know what the future holds, but I can tell you what He has already done in my life.
After graduating from Arkansas Baptist High School, I was led to Oklahoma Baptist University where I caught the eye of a vivacious girl who later became my life-partner and wife. After graduating, we moved to De Queen, Arkansas, where I was given a unique opportunity to get my Masters in Education without leaving the De Queen school building and was blessed with two wonderful children.
God then asked us to step out in faith and leave a secure teaching position and new home in De Queen, Arkansas, to move to Hot Springs, without a job or house. Within a year, God provided a beautiful home, a mere 3 minutes from my new job at Hot Springs High School, and a wonderful church family in Lake Valley Community Church who accepted us with open arms.".
